I’m sitting in a cafe in a trendy suburb of Brisbane quietly enjoying a glass of wine and pondering life and it’s complexities, I’ve had enough of dealing with difficult people ! Cheers
There are times in ones life when you could just pack up and leave, forget all the worries and just go and find a new life, do something completely different and really live. Is it that simple ? What really makes us happy ? How many cars/ house / clothes does one need ? is it all an illusion of false happiness, just waiting for us to fall into the trap of more is better, when really it takes very little to make us grateful for a healthy happy life. If you had the choice of being happy with a simple life, no frills kind, laughing over fish and chips with your family on a sunny afternoon, or being gob smacking wealthy with family miles away and no one else ? All my young life we had very little, and it was simple, as i got older i became aware of the divide between the rich and poor, i wanted to be on the rich side. I worked hard, got lucky along the way, and have made a very comfortable life. Somewhere along the way it has started to unravel, infidelity and lies unable to live with the compromise.
listening to my favourite albums, Dido,
i always thought id like to live by the sea, travel the world, and live more simply, i don’t really know what happened to my dream.
if my life is for rent, and i don’t learn to buy, i deserve nothing more than i get, nothing i have is truly mine, nothing i have is truly mine…
except I’m keeping the house by the sea and the mercedes ;) lol
Make quilts !!
The circle is from a Jen Kingwell pattern, it’s shaping up to be a funky hat !! Seriously something wrong here ! I will try my own pattern for the rest :)
I recently made a trip to the beautiful city of Sydney, where I grew up but i haven’t made many trips back there since I moved away many years ago. The harbour is gorgeous, the smell of the fresh blue ocean, the sounds of ferries as they leave the quay, the opera house and bridge all make this one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen.
these photos are courtesy of google images as somehow i have lost all my photos which i cannot fathom how, but they are not on my ph anymore :( but there was a ship just like the one in the photo above, they are enormous !
I made a decision to eat at a couple of highly rated restaurants, which was fabulous ! One has a spectacular view of the harbour, and the food was excellent, the other one has no view but the food was sublime :) anyhow i intend to go back very soon, and take my kids so we can all have a nice few days there and catch up with my mum as well :0
I also visited a couple of quilt stores, one is quite famous and i did have a photo of the owner with her new book, but its gone also :( bloody ipieceofrubbish must have deleted them when it got reset, but kept all the daggy photos, naturally. Another excuse to go back :) Avoir until next time
I drafted this today as I couldn’t find a pattern for it anywhere, and I used my daughters protractor set that hasn’t seen the light of day for years ! I have even surprised myself with the result :) so I hope it works out with fabric ;)
It’s hot hot hot here, the air con is keeping us cool, but I am looking forward to cooler weather and rain, the garden is parched. I saw the head of a large eastern brown snake under a rock today right by the pool, yikes this is baaad, they are deadly. Swimming with brown snakes is not recommended :(
I will be sewing fabric to my shapes in the safety of the house !
Happy week to all xx
So xmas is over our bellies are full, new years is done and our heads are sore, its 2014 i hope there is more …
thats my wit for the month !!
The city is in sale mode, all the stores have some great bargains, i tried on some designer clothes which i didn’t love on me, they look so good on the mannequin, damn it, Im getting old, my skin looks wrinkly in the things i used to love to wear :( so i left them behind and then found a t shirt that was cool and only $10, bargain, that was good. The day ended with dinner with my kids and a friend,
Someone i know told me that after a week of not doing any physical work that they lost 10 % muscle, which im not sure how you could accurately measure, but still i thought i must be a bag of flubber after my lack of exercise for the last, ahem, two or maybe three years…
I’m going to spend some time with my mum in Sydney so maybe there might be some more shopping opportunities :)
Yesterday I visited a spa just down the road from me, it was fabulous ! The treatments were so relaxing I snoozed off a couple of times
The surrounds are beautiful, I felt like I was in Bali again
It was the perfect pre Xmas calm-me down-I-think-I’m-gonna -explode remedy :)
I’m going all out this week, I’m getting my hair done, shorter for summer and the colour to cover the blonder bits ;)
Hope you are all having a great week !
Its been an eventful few days here, firstly the good, our girl did very well in her end of school results :) She worked so hard for this, so happy for her, and we got her a little car which she is over the moon with, its red and as she says zoom, zoom ! After all that there really isnt any bad, only she hasnt got her licence to drive it on her own as yet, but hopefully very soon ;)
Its been a bit on the warm side here, so too hot for much of the snugly stuff, but i still live in denial and keep quilting ! The patriotic quilt is almost done, after more swearing, but I have learnt to use the backstitch very well now, so less turning and my arms are eternally grateful for this :) I have found a very interesting pattern which will be my new project, quite different from anything i have done before, but i love a challenge so i am diving in ! It will be my thing to do over the xmas – new year break as long as i dont get called in to work ;)
I hope everyone is having a great time, merry xmas and happy ny in case i get busy and dont get back here !
Today i heard an old ELO song on the radio, it made me smile, and think of my uncomplicated life back then, to be younger and have the world at your feet was wonderful. Then i watched this movie which is funny but with its complicated story, I love so I might have to watch it again and have a laugh !
On another note or for something completely different, i did work on a quilt that has been lying around for some time, i did the quilting by stitching in the ditch. Whoever thought this was a good idea is demented ! I was bored, my arms ached, and i felt like throwing the thing over the edge of the universe, and that was after the first session ! But not wanting to quit i kept going and now it almost done, like my head…ahhh, never again will i stitch in the ditch.
This is the quilt, i still have to add a border, well i dont but i will anyway ! so it is a real WIP for me. I also plan to eat loads of chocolate and surf the net for a while, and ponder my lack of enthusiasm for anything else really. Hope you are all having a ridiculously good time with your projects !!
i am linking up with the slow bloggers hosted by Willit over here http://heysislookwhatimade.blogspot.co.uk/ be sure to check it out :)
its been a long while since i have written anything here, life takes some interesting turns but i hope its a less bumpy ride from now on ! My little girl graduated from high school, it was beautiful and sad all at the same time :) She was happy to finish and is really excited about the next phase of university study and some independence with our help of course ! They have a great tradition at the school where the graduates walk through the centre of the school with the entire school standing on both sides clapping them along the way, they finish at the lake where they then jump in ! It is summer here and it was a hot day so its a fun finish, but they then head off to the beach and jump in there with all the other graduates from other schools in our region. It is the start of a week of fun celebrating the end of 12 years of school which has become a huge party on the Gold Coast, expecting 30,000 to attend.
Now it will be a beautiful summer break and we can all look forward to xmas and the new year ;)
